Polypropylene, abbreviated as PP, is a polymer formed by the addition polymerization of propylene. It is a white waxy material with a transparent and lightweight appearance. The chemical formula is (C3H6) n, with a density of 0.89-0.91g/cm3, flammable, melting point of 164-170 ºC, softening at around 155 ºC, and operating temperature range of -30~140 ºC
Polypropylene is a plastic raw material with the lightest density. Its appearance is colorless and translucent particles. As a food grade plastic, it is widely used in food packaging, such as foam plastic boxes, PP plastic cups, and so on. Polypropylene can be divided into five categories based on its main applications: PP injection molding, PP drawing, PP fiber, PP film, and PP pipe.
- PP injection molding is mainly used in small household appliances, toys, washing machines, automotive parts, and so on;
- Polypropylene drawing is mainly used in plastic woven products. The container bags, woven bags, food bags, and transparent bags used in daily life all belong to PP drawing material products;
- Polypropylene film is generally classified as BOPP film, CPP film, IPP film, and PP film which is mainly used in food packaging;
- Polypropylene fiber is a type of fiber product made from polypropylene through melt spinning. Mainly used in decoration, clothing and other fields
- PP Pipe: Due to the non-toxic and high-temperature resistant properties of polypropylene, PP pipe materials are mainly used in water supply and heating systems. Compared with PE pipes, PP pipes are lighter in weight, easier to transport, and have better environmental performance. They can be recycled and reused
